Festival of Contemporary Music

Festival of Contemporary Music

This weekend, I’m performing Mendel Lee’s Timpani Forces at the Festival of Contemporary Music in San Fransisco.  Mendel composed the piece for Syracuse Symphony Percussionist David Constantine, and it was premiered in New Orleans this Spring.

The piece was composed in honor of my mentor and teacher, Charles Dowd.  It is a great honor to be able to perform this piece in the Bay Area, where Charles spent so much of his performing and teaching career.

My arrangement of Isaac Albeniz’s Sevilla is being released this week by Tapspace Publications.  The premiere performance will be by the Union High School Percussion Ensemble at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic this week!

If you will be in Chicago, the concert is Thursday morning at 9AM in the Skyline Ballroom.  Come and see the piece performed as well as the rest of this wonderful program!

Thanks to Jim and Murray at Tapspace for publishing this piece!

Hat’s off to Nathan for this wonderful addition to the scarce Vibraphone Concerto repertoire!
